Maher Salah: Normalization of ties with Israel crime

Monday 24-December-2018

Hamas’s chief abroad Maher Salah on Sunday said that the downfall of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be very soon thanks to the Palestinian resistance.

“We have proved the saying ‘the old will die and the young will forget’ wrong” Salah said in his speech during a Hamas celebration marking its 31st anniversary in the Lebanese city of Sidon “We are here to stay.”

Salah said that Hamas over the years has been a unique model for other liberation movements in both the military and political fields.

Salah in his speech shed light on the ongoing oppression in the Gaza Strip the West Bank Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories occupied since 1948 and expressed his appreciation for all forms of resistance adopted by the Palestinians against the Israeli policies.

The Hamas leader called on Palestinians abroad to mobilize efforts and relations to support the Palestinian people in the occupied territories in all possible ways.

He affirmed that Hamas has spared no effort at the political and legal level to expose Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians and hold Israeli criminals accountable at international courts.

Salah appealed to the countries hosting Palestinian refugees especially Lebanon to improve their living conditions and give them their civil and human rights and called on UNRWA to assume its responsibilities toward them.

Salah confirmed that the Palestinian people in Syria have the full support of Hamas and stressed the need for the immediate reconstruction of Palestinian refugee camps affected by the war in Syria.

“We pray to God to bring stability and prosperity back to Syria and we hope the country restores its leading role in confronting the Israeli occupation in the region” he added.

Saleh saluted the Palestinians in Jordan Europe Britain Turkey and Latin America and praised the huge efforts put into the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad.

In another context the Hamas leader thanked Tunisia for tracking the murderers of martyr Mohammed al-Zawari asking the Malaysian government to follow its path and continue investigations into the assassination of the Palestinian academic Fadi al-Batsh.

Salah expressed gratitude to the countries which played a major role in thwarting the US resolution condemning Hamas at the United Nations especially Kuwait Iran and Turkey. He also thanked Egypt for hosting the intra-Palestinian talks and Qatar for supporting the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip by all possible means.

Salah in a strongly-worded message said that normalization is a “moral crime” and “political sin”.

“It is a shame seeing the increasing normalization of ties with Israel in the Arab world while the BDS movement is witnessing a great success in the popular economic and academic boycott in the West” he said.

Salah stressed that the so-called ‘deal of the century’ will not pass. “We will fight it all costs” he added.

He ended his speech by sending a message to the Palestinian prisoners saying “We will work with all our energy to empty the Israeli jails of Palestinians. The longer it takes Israel to conclude a prisoner swap deal the heavier the price it will pay.”
