Meet Marah Bakir representative of Palestinian female prisoners

Thursday 23-December-2021

Palestinian female prisoner Marah Bakir 22 was just 16-year-old when she was arrested by Israeli forces.

Marah from Beit Hanina in Occupied Jerusalem became today the representative of female prisoners in Damon prison.

Her Arrest

Detained on October 12 2015 Marah has spent six years and two months out of her 8 and a half year prison term.

In prison she passed high school and became the representative of the female prisoners in Damon jail.

She suffers constant pain as Israeli prison authorities kept delaying her medical surgery to remove platinum from her hand.

She was shot by 14 bullets in her hand before arrest while leaving her school in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood under the pretext of attempting to stab an Israeli soldier.

Another young man was shot in the scene while trying to help her.

In Israeli jails

During her detention Marah was frequently denied family visits for different period of times.

Israeli prison authorities also refused to let her undergo a medical surgery on her hand under the pretext of being a “terrorist.”

She was transferred to different Israeli prisons including Ramle Ashkelon Hasharon and Damon prisons.
