Palestinian activists and civil society representatives on Thursday held contacts with a group of stakeholders in Jenin in attempt to mobilize support for the Palestinian prisoners’ cause.
Coordinator for the popular committee to release the detainees Ragheb Abu Diak said a round of visits was held by activists in Jenin so as to raise the prisoners’ issue.
Director-General of Jenin’s local government Iyad Khalaf stressed the need to speak up for the Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails which he said is a moral duty.
Head of Jenin branch at al-Quds Open University Emad Nazal said the administration teaching staff and students will join the mass rallies and events staged in support for the prisoners’ cause.
The move falls in with the advent of the Prisoner’s Day marked on April 17.
