Mishaal: Israel’s bid to suppress mosque Adhan “playing with fire”

Sunday 20-November-2016

Head of Hamas’s political bureau Khaled Mishaal has condemned Israel’s persistent attempt to ban Palestinian Mosques especially in Occupied Jerusalem from reciting Adhan (call to prayer) as “playing with fire.”

In press remarks on Sunday to Anadolu news agency Mishaal said that Israel suspended its anti-Adhan bill after it saw angry and strong reactions from the Palestinian people and the Muslim nation.

He also expressed his belief that Israel took its decision to shelve the bill after it feared that the new legislation could affect Jewish rituals as well.

In another context the Hamas official called on president-elect Donald Trump to change US foreign policy especially with regard to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

“We understand that regional and international developments affect the Palestinian cause and all regional issues but what makes history is the peoples’ struggle.”

“Regardless of who becomes the US president we will enforce our will.”

He also stressed that ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine is the key to regional stability.

“There will be no stability in the region until the Palestinian people regain their rights and the [Israeli] occupation of our land and holy sites come to an end” he said.
