Hamas’s former political bureau chairman Khaled Mishaal hailed Turkey on the first anniversary of the failed coup attempt.
In a speech broadcast by TRT TV Channel Mishaal acclaimed Turkey’s pro-Palestine position and ceaseless efforts to speak up for al-Aqsa and Occupied Jerusalem.
Mishaal further praised Turkey’s endeavors to break the siege on Gaza hailing those who died onboard Marmara anti-siege ship.
“We are proud of Turkey and will forever stick up for it. We wish Turkey all the best and hope that the country would keep on thriving regardless of the internal and external conspiracies weaved against it” stated Mishaal.
“The coup is a momentous stopover in Turkey’s and the region’s history” said Mishaal. “Turkey is the breeding ground of democracy freedom socio-economic prosperity renaissance ethics and sympathy.”
Mishaal appealed to the Turkish leadership to stand up for al-Aqsa Mosque saying: “For the first time in 50 years al-Aqsa place of worship has been shut and the call to prayer banned by the Israelis who have made use of the latest developments to put into effect their Judaization schemes and divide the site.”
