Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz received on Monday a high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement led by its former political bureau chief Khaled Mishaal at the presidential palace in Nouakchott.
According to the official news agency of Mauritania Mishaal conveyed during his meeting with the president heartfelt greetings from the Gaza-based Hamas leadership and its thanks for his courageous positions towards the Palestinian cause.
“I expressed to his Excellency my happiness to be for the first time on the land of the beloved Mauritania…I’d like to recall the president’s brave position towards the Palestinian cause when he severed the relations with Israel and closed its embassy as well as his remarkable stance in 2009 during the Gaza summit in Doha” the news agency quoted Mishaal as saying.
The Hamas official also expressed his deep gratitude to the Mauritanian people for their support for the Palestinian people and their national cause.
