Senior Islamic Jihad official Ziyad al-Nakhala has applauded the steps that were taken recently by the Hamas Movement to achieve the national reconciliation and end the division urging the Palestinian Authority to respond positively to the efforts in this regard.
In an interview conducted with him by al-Mayadeen satellite channel Nakhala expressed concern about the American and Israeli positions on the inter-Palestinian reconciliation stressing the need to guard against Zio-American attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
The Islamic Jihad official pointed out that his Movement’s support was for reconciliation efforts leading to an end to the humanitarian suffering of the population of Gaza and not for any agreement forcing the resistance factions to surrender their weapons.
He added that “the weapons of the Palestinian resistance cannot be subject to negotiation or discussion.”
He said that his Movement would go to Cairo if it was invited and would not hesitate to table ideas consistent with its political program.
