Monday 16-January-2017

Vitaly Naumkin Director of the Russian Institute of Oriental Studies stated on Monday that his country “can be a guarantor of any Palestinian-Palestinian agreement” adding that the Palestinian factions’ meeting in Moscow which is sponsored by Naumkin’s institute is the second since 2011 and falls in line with a series of efforts to end the Palestinian division.

The Russian official expressed concern over the reports that Trump intends to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem describing the move as “very dangerous” and calling for reconsidering the decision.

He pointed out that the Moscow meetings will not only include the Palestinian factions but also representatives of the Russian public opinion notables involving former ambassadors and academics noting that an important meeting will be held between the factions and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Palestinian National Dialogue conference on reconciliation was launched on Sunday in the Russian capital Moscow with the participation of eight Palestinian factions within a Russian endeavor to end the Palestinian division.
