Member of Hamas’s political bureau Mohamed Nazzal has ruled out the possibility of achieving a tangible national reconciliation during Mahmoud Abbas’s presidency describing the efforts in regards as “chasing a mirage.”
“Quite frankly as long as Mahmoud Rida Abbas remains the president of Fatah there will be no real and practical reconciliation” Nazzal expressed his belief in Twitter remarks.
“The train has lost its track not because the driver does not know the way but because it is premeditated disorientation” the Hamas official added.
He pointed out that several rounds of reconciliation talks had took place for nearly a decade without achieving any tangible progress due to the intransigent positions of Fatah and Mahmoud Abbas and their disregard for the agreements signed with Hamas.
