New cases of the coronavirus were recorded among the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Ramon and the Negev prisons.
The Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Authority announced on Saturday that 4 prisoners in the Negev prison have been infected with the coronavirus.
Meanwhile the Prisoners Information Office announced on Friday that three new corona infections were recorded among prisoners in Ramon prison.
This brings the total number of infections in Ramon to 36 while the total number of prisoners infected with coronavirus in the Israeli occupation jails since the outbreak of the pandemic reached 249.
Moussa Dudin the official in charge of the prisoner’s file in Hamas had warned of the persistence of the Israeli prison service (IPS) in targeting the lives of prisoners following the outbreak of the coronavirus inside prisons.
Dudin pointed out that the IPS ignored all warnings and human rights demands and continued to disregard the lives of the prisoners and held it fully responsible for the prisoners’ lives.
The IPS neglects the prisoners’ conditions and deprives them of protection methods such as sterilizers cleaning materials and masks which compel prisoners to buy these supplies at their own expense.
Israel is holding about 4200 Palestinians in its prisons including 700 patients of whom 40 suffer from chronic diseases and ten of them have cancer to varying degrees according to official statistics.
