At least 220000 Muslim worshipers performed the nighttime prayers on the final Friday of the holy month of Ramadan at the Aqsa Mosque despite the Israeli restrictions imposed on the entry of Palestinians to Occupied Jerusalem according to the Islamic Awqaf Administration in the holy city.
Earlier on the same day the Israeli occupation police launched a renewed attack on Muslim worshipers at the Aqsa Mosque and injured several of them.
The Red Crescent said 42 people were wounded in the police raid on the Islamic holy site on Friday morning as soldiers intensively fired rubber bullets tear gas and stun grenades to disperse a group of worshipers who rallied in the Mosque’s courtyards.
Medics were also prevented from entering the Mosque to provide first aid for the wounded while one paramedic was beaten by Israeli policemen the Red Crescent added.
The raid lasted for about an hour in which Israeli police forces tried to empty the Mosque’s courtyards and make arrests. Meanwhile young Palestinians barricaded themselves near the Qibli prayer building in the southern section of the holy site and threw rocks and fireworks at the soldiers to stop their advance.
Three Palestinians were arrested during those events according to the Israeli police.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been wounded and arrested during multiple violent police raids on the Mosque since the fasting month of Ramadan started.
