Over 40 injured as IOF attacks Palestinians protesting land grab

Friday 28-February-2020

Dozens of Palestinian citizens were wounded on Friday morning including a child when Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violently quelled a protest against an Israeli plan to take over al-Arma Mountain south of the West Bank city of Nablus to establish a settler outpost.

Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center’s reporter that the IOF stormed al-Arma Mountain on the outskirts of Beita village and opened fire at Palestinian villagers who remained there all the night to thwart Israeli settlers’ attempt to take over the area.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that 43 Palestinians were injured by IOF rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas bombs.

The Red Crescent said that a 16-year-old boy was shot with a live bullet in the back and one villager suffered bruises and fractures as a result of being beaten by IOF soldiers. Both casualties were rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Dozens of Palestinian citizens from Beita village and some neighboring areas flocked to al-Arma Mountain on Thursday night and performed Friday’s dawn prayer in the area to prevent Israeli settlers from establishing a new colonial outpost there.
