The Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces have recently arrested two ex-detainees and refused to release many others being held illegally in West Bank jails.
In al-Khalil the PA preventive security apparatus arrested an ex-detainee called Abdullah al-Arouri a university student after summoning him for interrogation on Saturday morning.
For its part the PA intelligence in Qalqilya kidnapped a young ex-detainee called Mu’men Abu Shareb from his home after he posted Facebook remarks against Mahmoud Abbas.
There are more than 60 Palestinian citizens being detained with no legal basis in PA jails. All of them were arrested during a recent campaign that targeted Abbas’s rivals.
