PA security persists in detaining citizens illegally

Friday 30-November-2018

In the context of their security cooperation with the Israeli occupation state the Palestinian Authority (PA) security agencies persist in detaining citizens illegally with no indictment or trial.

During the last two days the PA security apparatuses summoned and arrested three citizens with no guilt. All of them were former detainees in PA and Israeli jails.

The PA security also refuses to release others being held with no legal grounds in their prisons. Some of those detainees went on hunger strike in protest at their illegal detention.

In al-Khalil the PA intelligence apparatus arrested ex-detainee Nadim Sabarneh after summoning him for interrogation on Wednesday morning. He had spent over nine years in Israeli jails.

The same PA security agency also arrested ex-detainee Imad Jadallah in al-Khalil after holding his father hostage for several hours to pressure his son to surrender himself.

The son Jadallah started open-ended hunger strike immediately after his detention.

In Ramallah the PA intelligence has been detaining Nadi Awad for about five days and refuses to release him. He had spent over eight years in Israeli jails.

In Nablus the PA intelligence summoned ex-detainee Mohamed Allan for interrogation at its headquarters in the city on December 4 2018. However he announced he would not respond to the summons and described it as an illegal measure.

For its part the Islamic Jihad Movement said that the detainees Mohamed and Samed Salem started open-ended hunger strike two days ago in a PA jail in Nablus in protest at their detention with no indictment and their exposure to maltreatment.

Mohamed and Samed Salem relatives have been in a PA jail for about three months at the pretext they are affiliated with Islamic Jihad.
