The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) has warned that the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital threatens international peace and security and gives Israel the green light to use excessive force against Palestinian protesters.
In a press release the PCHR stated that the Israeli forces used excessive force against Palestinians protesting the US declaration on Jerusalem killing four Palestinians and wounding hundreds in the Gaza Strip and other occupied Palestinian territories.
The rights center expressed its fears that the serious repercussions of the US step would continue for a long time after it provoked the religious feelings of Muslims and Christians around the world and not only in Palestine.
It called upon the international community and UN bodies to intervene to stop Israel from persisting in its crimes and violations and to provide protection for the Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied territories.
