PPS informs French delegation about prisoners’ conditions

Sunday 17-September-2017

Head of the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) Qaddoura Fares on Sunday briefed a delegation of French organizations who visited the PPS headquarters in Ramallah on the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Fares expressed his appreciation for the important role played by pro-Palestinian organizations particularly in France in internationalizing the prisoners’ issue.

Fares affirmed that the situation of Palestinian prisoners has become more difficult in recent years in view of the presence of a “fascist” government that supports the violations practiced against prisoners in Israeli jails.

He explained to the delegation that the prisoners had launched a mass hunger strike earlier in 2017 and despite being subjected to all kinds of repression they were able to reach some understandings with the Israel Prison Service providing for improving their incarceration conditions.

He called on the French organizations to continue their support for the issue of the Palestinian prisoners and to pressure Israel to stop the violations and crimes committed against them.
