Palestinian factions on way to Cairo to resume reconciliation talks

Representatives of national Palestinian factions are about to leave the blockaded Gaza Strip on Monday to carry out the projected round of reconciliation talks in Cairo.

Speaking with the Palestinian Information Center Talal Abu Darifa from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) said the national delegations are expected to head for Cairo via Rafah border crossing in the next few hours.

The delegations that will pop in Cairo include representatives of Hamas the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine the Palestinian People’s Party the Palestinian Arab Front the Palestinian Democratic Union and DFLP.

Abu Darifa added that procedures have been smooth to secure the delegations’ access to Cairo and resume reconciliation talks.

On Sunday Hamas revealed members of the Movement’s delegation that will attend the projected round of reconciliation talks in Cairo.

The senior delegation led by deputy political chief of Hamas Saleh Arouri also includes Yehya Sinwar Khalil al-Hayya Husam Badran and Salah al-Bardawil.

A reconciliation agreement struck between Fatah and Hamas in Cairo on October 12 2017 signaled the launch of the Palestinian Authority’s mission in the blockaded Gaza Strip and the takeover of key files in the enclave most notably border crossings.
