Lawyer of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Hanan Al-Khatib on Thursday revealed details about the horrific circumstances under which the Palestinian female prisoners are interrogated and held in Israeli jails following her visit to the Damon prison.
Al-Khatib quoted prisoner Donia Jaradat as saying that she was arrested on the 7th of August 2022 after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed her home in the West Bank city of Jenin without informing her of the reason for the arrest.
“Although my hand was broken I was handcuffed during the arrest” Jaradat said adding that she was then held in Al Jalame prison for investigation for 14 days before she was transferred to Damon prison.
Moreover 50-year-old Itaf Jaradat who was arrested in 2021 after her three sons were arrested and her home was demolished suffers from hypertension and irregular heartbeat due to her detention according to Al-Khatib.
In a related development the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported that the Israeli prison administration forced Palestinian prisoners to undergo security checks after they refused to do so in protest against their detention conditions.
Earlier on Monday Palestinian prisoners in all detention centers decided to return their meals as part of the protests against the Israeli prison service’s repressive measures.
