Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawda 40 has continued his hunger strike for the 15th consecutive day in Ofer prison on Friday in protest against his administrative detention according to which he is held without charge or trial.
Awawda from al-Khalil launched his hunger strike on March 3 calling for an end to his administrative detention.
He started suffering from different health problems several years ago as he became unable to move due to his severe neck and back pains. He is in need of a surgery and physical therapy.
However the prison administration refused to allow his proper treatment and only gave him painkillers.
Awawda a father of four children spent 12 years in Israeli prisons including 5 years in administrative detention.
He was released on June 30 2016 to be re-arrested and held in administrative detention again.
Some 500 Palestinian prisoners in administrative detention have been boycotting the Israeli military court system since the start of this year to protest their detention without trial or charge for indefinite periods based on ‘secret evidence’.
