The Palestinian prisoners declared a one-day hunger strike in Israeli jails Palestinian rights sources revealed on Tuesday.
The hunger strike comes as part of the protest steps declared by the prisoners nearly 24 days ago in rejection of the Israeli prison service’s punitive measures the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) underlined.
The hunger strike came as popular events are held at home and aboard in support of the prisoners’ protest steps.
Wa’ed Association for Palestinian Prisoners also revealed that a number of prisoners were isolated in an attempt to thwart the prisoners’ protest steps.
Wa’ed pointed out that tension has been running high in Israeli jails as Palestinian prisoners plan to escalate their protest steps.
The rights group called on the Palestinian people to participate in the solidarity events in support of the prisoners’ uprising.
4500 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails including 34 women 180 minors and about 500 administrative detainees.
