Several Palestinian notables and institutions have warned of the Israeli decision to increase the morning incursions into the Aqsa Mosque by the Jewish settlers and extremist Zionist groups.
The Mufti of Jerusalem and Imam of the Aqsa Mosque Muhammad Hussein said in a statement on Monday that the decision reveals the aggressive intentions of the Israeli occupation authorities to enforce partition at the Aqsa Mosque.
Hussein affirmed that Palestinians reject any Israeli intervention in the affairs of the Aqsa Mosque and urged the Palestinian people to frequent the Mosque and protect it.
For his part Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib director of the Islamic Waqf in Jerusalem said that the Israeli decision meets the desires of the extreme right which is trying to destabilize the situation at the Aqsa Mosque.
He held the Israeli occupation government responsible for the consequences of such a decision.
The Islamic-Christian Commission in support of Jerusalem and its holy sites also condemned the decision describing it as a fresh Israeli attempt to impose a new de facto situation on the ground.
