The health condition of Palestinian prisoner Emad al-Battran from al-Khalil city has worsened as he entered day 45 of his open-ended hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention with no trial or indictment.
According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs hunger striker Battran who is currently isolated in Nitzan jail suffers from severe emaciation and weakness as well as from widespread physical pains and skin inflammation.
Battran started his hunger strike in Megiddo jail before transferring him to Ramla (Ayalon) jail then to a hospital and recently to an isolation cell in Nitzan jail.
Battran had been arrested and jailed more than once and spent 10 years in Israeli prisons mostly in administrative detention. In 2013 he went on open-ended hunger strike for 105 days to protest administrative detention and later in 2016 for a period of 35 days.
