Palestinian prisoner Naser ash-Shawish was transferred on Saturday from the Israeli jail of Gilboa to a hospital after he suffered a stroke and his health worsened.
In press remarks the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs called for allowing one of its lawyers to visit prisoner Shawish in the hospital holding the Israeli prison service fully responsible for any harm that may come to him.
The Commission said that it delegated a crew of lawyers to find the hospital he was transferred to and work on visiting him urgently.
Prisoner Shawish was arrested in 2002 and later was sentenced to four life terms after the Israeli intelligence apparatus accused him of being affiliated with al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and carrying out military operations that led to the death and injury of Israeli soldiers.
In another statement on Sunday the Commission of Detainees said that 78-year-old prisoner Muwafaq Arouq suffers from difficult and worsening health conditions.
The Commission explained that Arouq suffers from lung and eyesight problems and he could become blind if Israeli jailers continued to medically neglect him.
Prisoner Arouq suffers from cancer in his liver and stomach not to mention that he vomits everyday and complains of constant numbness in his feet fatigue and pains all over his body according to the Commission.
As a result of his serious health problems the prisoner needs special medical care and special types of food and vitamins.
