Protest in Gaza in solidarity with prisoner Israa Ja’abis

Saturday 10-February-2018

Waed Society for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners and Hamas women’s movement on Saturday organized a protest in al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip in solidarity with the injured female prisoner in Israeli jails Israa Ja’abis.

MP for Hamas’s parliamentary bloc in the Palestinian Legislative Council Abdulrahman al-Jamal participated in the protest along with dozens of women activists and ex-prisoners.

Al-Jamal in a statement to the PIC stressed the need to work to put an end to the suffering of thousands of Palestinian prisoners including 60 female detainees in Israeli jails as soon as possible.

Ex-prisoner Sanaa al-Hafi said that she had spent some time with captive Israa Ja’abis in Israeli jails affirming that Ja’abis cannot do some basic tasks like eating by herself as she is suffering from severe burns in her face and body that led to the amputation of some of her fingers.

Ex-prisoner Jalal Saqer said in a speech on behalf of Waed Society that Ja’abis is one of 7000 Palestinian prisoners languishing in Israeli jails 1200 of whom are injured or suffer from chronic diseases.
