The cities of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank Amman and Beirut witnessed on Wednesday demonstrations demanding the Palestinian Authority (PA) to lift the sanctions imposed on the besieged Gaza Strip.
Dozens of protesters who took to the streets and held protests before the Palestinian embassies in Amman and Beirut carried pro-Gaza banners and chanted slogans condemning the sanctions imposed on the blockaded coastal enclave.
Some of the supporters of the PA President Mahmoud Abbas attacked pressmen while covering the event in Beirut. However the demonstrations in Amman and Bethlehem witnessed no clashes.
The protests came in response to calls by “Lift the Sanctions” campaign which announced a series of new events in the West Bank and many capital cities in the world.
