Qabha asks Red Cross to help sick prisoner see his family

Thursday 10-December-2020

Senior Hamas official Wasif Qabha has appealed to the presidency of the Red Cross mission in Palestine to stand by sick prisoner Ayed Ajuli who recently suffered from serious health problems.

In a statement Qabha a former minister of detainees’ affairs explained that 54-year-old prisoner Ajuli from Qaffin town in Tulkarem was transferred from the jail on November 26 2020 to Soroka Hospital where he underwent cardiac catheterization and an open heart procedure a few days later.

The former minister pointed out that Ajuli’s family had asked the Red Cross more than once to necessarily intervene and help it obtain a permit in order to be with the prisoner during his presence in the hospital but to no avail.

The family also asked the Red Cross to delegate a doctor to visit Ajuli in the hospital and check on his health condition but there was no response according to Qabha.

He urged the Red Cross to necessarily work on arranging an urgent humanitarian visit to the hospital for the prisoner’s wife and family soon.

The Israeli occupation forces had rejailed Ayed Ajuli (ex-detainee) in mid-June 2014 along with dozens of Palestinians who were released as part of the 2011 prisoner swap deal between the Palestinian resistance and Israel.
