Former minister of detainees’ affairs Wasfi Qabha has revealed that prisoners from Hamas and Islamic Jihad intend soon to stage an open-ended mass hunger strike in Israeli jails.
Qabha an ex-detainee stated that the prisoners would start the hunger strike in three successive groups and the first group would start the strike on April 17 and the other groups would follow suit separately later.
The first group of hunger strikers would be led by senior Hamas officials including head of the Hamas prisoner committee Mohamed Arman according to Qabha.
The former minister described the situation in Israeli jails as very difficult after the Israeli occupation service escalated its punitive measures against the prisoners.
