Raed Rayan at risk as he continues hunger strike for 92nd day

Thursday 7-July-2022

Palestinian prisoner Raed Rayan continued his open-ended hunger strike for the 92nd day Thursday in protest against his illegal administrative detention.

Rayan who is currently held in Ramla prison hospital suffers from a persistent headache extreme fatigue frequent dizziness and vomiting and severe pains all over his body.

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority reported that Rayan’s health condition entered a dangerous stage while Israeli authorities continue to refuse his transfer to a civilian hospital.

Rayan was kidnapped from his home in Beit Duqqu village northwest of Occupied Jerusalem on December 3 2021 and soon later an Israeli military court ordered his detention administratively for six months.

Meanwhile hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held without trial or charge in Israeli jails entered day 188 of their boycott of Israeli courts to demand an end to the administrative detention policy.

In early January the administrative detainees announced a complete boycott of all judicial procedures related to their administrative detention.

Administrative detention is detention without charge or trial. It is based on a secret file that neither the detainee nor his lawyer have access to.

According to the Israeli military orders an administrative detention order can be renewed for unlimited times for a maximum renewable period of six months.

4600 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli jails including 31 women 172 children and 682 administrative detainees.
