The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said on Sunday evening that it is a national liberation movement that defends the rights of the Palestinian people expressing its rejection of the statements by the US President Donald Trump in which he accused the Movement of terrorism.
Member of the Hamas political bureau Ezzat al-Resheq said that Hamas practices legitimate resistance which is recognized by the international laws against a terrorist occupation.
In a statement to Quds Press on Sunday Resheq expressed his rejection of Trump’s statements in which he described Hamas as a terrorist movement and considered them “a blatant bias to the Israeli occupation against the values of justice and freedom”.
The Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said earlier in a brief statement on his Facebook page that these statements are rejected stressing that Hamas is a national liberation movement that legitimately defends the rights of the Palestinian people.
Barhoum added that terrorism is the Israeli mass murder of the Palestinian people and the Gaza blockade which enjoy official US support.
In an address to the Arab-Islamic-American summit held with the participation of 55 Arab and Islamic leaders in Saudi Arabia Trump accused Hamas Movement of “terrorism” saying “Hezbollah al-Qaeda and Hamas represent different forms of terrorism.”
The Arab-Islamic-American summit kicked off in Riyadh on Saturday evening to discuss several forms of partnership combating extremism and promoting the values of tolerance and moderation.
Trump arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Saturday morning on his first foreign visit since taking office on 20th January 2017 to be the first US president to make his first foreign visit to an Arab or Muslim country.
