Rezka warns against world’s reluctance to lift economic siege on Palestinians

Wednesday 7-March-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Information minister in the PA caretaker government Dr. Yousef Rezka warned that the world’s reluctance to lift the unjust economy siege imposed on the Palestinian people a year ago would harm stability in the region and would produce counterproductive repercussions.

A press statement issued by Rezka and a copy of which obtained by the PIC affirmed “The blockade per se was an unethical and undemocratic measure and therefore prolonging it further would mean a clear bias and support for the Israeli occupation government”.

Since one year the USA and Israel were and still are leading wing-clipping international sanctions against the cash-strapped Palestinian people as mass punishment of them for expressing their democratic will and electing Hamas to rule them.

Meanwhile the ministry of economy in the PA caretaker government deprecated the establishment of a joint Palestinian-Israeli private company for transportation by Palestinian and Israeli parties describing the step as “clear attempt to monopolize transporting goods from and into the Gaza Strip”.

The ministry asserted in a statement it issued in this regard that the step was a clear attempt to turnaround efforts it made in order to protect the Palestinian economy.

“Since it was illegally established on usurped Palestinian lands in 1948 the Hebrew state was striving to normalize relations with local Palestinian citizens and Arab neighbors with the aim to conceal its big crime of usurping the Palestinian lands” the statement furthermore added.
