A high-profile delegation from the Hamas Movement arrived on Wednesday afternoon in Moscow to discuss latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause.
The Hamas delegation included Hamas political bureau members Dr. Musa Abu Marzouq and Ezzat El-Resheq and the Hamas representative in Russia.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov and other senior officials from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Hamas officials briefed their Russian counterparts on the Israeli violations in Jerusalem the West Bank and the Gaza Strip stressing that the Palestinian people are entitled to resist the Israeli occupation. They pointed out that the continuing Israeli violations would lead to an escalation.
The delegation also reiterated the necessity to achieve national unity and explained Hamas’s vision on means of healing the intra-Palestinian split.
Bogdanov for his part said that this visit is part of the Russian endeavors to enhance the bilateral cooperation between Russia and Hamas.
He confirmed his country’s stance in support of the Palestinian cause and the Russian preparedness to push for the intra-Palestinian reconciliation.
The Hamas delegation thanked Russian officials for their positions towards Palestine.
In press statements to RT member of the Hamas political bureau Musa Abu Marzouq said that external conditions and pressures prevent the Palestinians from achieving national unity.
He also pointed out that Hamas has not done nothing against British interests that could compel London to include it on the list of “terrorist organizations”.
It is not in the interest of any Arab country to normalize relations with Israel which will only exhaust Arab potentials and block their development he further said.
Arab-Israeli normalization took place under American pressure to turn the Arab-Israeli conflict into a conflict with Iran he added.
He also pointed out that the Palestinian Authority made a mistake in recognizing Israel and concluding the Oslo Accords
On the other hand he opined that the Israeli Knesset blocks any progress in the prisoners’ exchange issue.
