Seven administrative detainees continue hunger strike in Israeli jails

Seven Palestinian prisoners have been on open-ended hunger strike for different periods in protest at their detention administratively with no indictments or trials.

Prisoner Kayed al-Fasfous from Dura town in al-Khalil is considered the longest hunger striker as he has been on hunger strike for 101 days.

The other hunger-striking administrative detainees are Miqdad al-Qawasmeh Alaa al-Araj Hisham Abu Hawash Shadi Abu Aker and Eyyad al-Harimi and Ra’fat Abu Rabiee. They have been on hunger strike for 94 77 68 60 31 and 7 days respectively.

Most of the hunger strikers especially hunger strikers Fasfous and Qawasmeh suffer from life-threatening health issues due to their protracted hunger strike according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs.

In a related context the family of hunger striker Alaa al-Araj warned that his health is in a critical state and he is at imminent risk of organ failure.

His wife Asmaa Quzmar appealed to everyone capable of helping Alaa and the other hunger strikers to save their lives before it is too late.

Alaa al-Araj is a civil engineer from Tulkarem. He has been jailed and administratively detained several times since 2013.

Six Palestinian prisoners have been on open-ended hunger strike for several weeks in protest at their detention administratively with no indictments or trials.

Prisoner Kayed al-Fasfous from Dura town in al-Khalil is considered the longest hunger striker as he has been on hunger strike for 80 days.

The other hunger-striking administrative detainees are Miqdad al-Qawasmeh Alaa al-Araj Hisham Abu Hawash Rayek Bisharat and Shadi Abu Aker. They have been on hunger strike for 73 55 47 42 and 39 days respectively.

Due to their protracted hunger strike these six prisoners suffer from worsening health conditions and severe physical weakness according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society.

Another hunger striker called Hasan Shawka from Bethlehem started an open-ended hunger strike 13 days ago after a military court ordered his detention administratively.

Shawka is being held incommunicado in a small cell in Ofer jail.

Seven Palestinian prisoners have been on open-ended hunger strike for weeks in protest at their illegal detention administratively with no indictments or trials.

The hunger-striking administrative detainees are Kayed al-Fasfous Miqdad al-Qawasmeh Alaa al-Araj Hisham Abu Hawash Rayek Bisharat Shadi Abu Aker and Hasan Shouka. They have been on hunger strike for 76 69 51 43 38 35 and 9 days respectively.

The prisoners suffer weight loss lack of salt and minerals and extreme fatigue 5 of them were transferred to hospitals.

In the same context the Commission of Palestinian Detainees Affairs said in a report published on Tuesday that Israeli Prison Service (IPS) keeps violating the right of the sick prisoners and intentionally keeps ignoring their special health conditions.

Prisoner Kayed al-Fasfous from Dura town in al-Khalil is considered the longest hunger striker as he has been on hunger strike for 73 days.

The other hunger-striking administrative detainees are Miqdad al-Qawasmeh Alaa al-Araj Hisham Abu Hawash Rayek Bisharat and Shadi Abu Aker. They have been on hunger strike for 67 49 41 36 and 33 days respectively.

Due to their protracted hunger strike these six prisoners suffer from difficult health conditions and severe physical weakness.

In a related context Muhjat Al-Quds Foundation for Martyrs and Detainees said that 33-year-oldd prisoner Hasan Shawka from Bethlehem started an open-ended hunger strike seven days ago after a military court ordered his detention administratively.

Shawka is now being held incommunicado in a small cell in Ofer jail.
