Nabil Shaath Foreign Policy Adviser to the Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas said the PA will never succumb to ongoing pressure by the US administration to resume peace talks with the Israeli occupation without a clear agenda.
In an exclusive statement to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) Shaath said the PA does not have any pieces of information as regards a projected US decision toward the PA and the Palestine Liberation Organization.
“What we rather look forward to is a process that will lead to the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the 1967 borders” added Shaath.
Addressing the US administration Abbas’s adviser said: “We will never surrender to any kind of blackmailing or pressure. Neither the previous nor the incumbent administrations can force us to change our positions vis-à-vis the dreams and objectives we have been striving to make true.”
“90 days are left for Trump to make up his mind and consider whether the Palestinians are engaged in direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel” before making such a decision said Shaath.
The Trump administration put the Palestine Liberation Organization on notice Friday that it will close the group’s office in Washington “if the Palestinians do not get serious about peace talks with Israel” State Department officials reported.
