Sheikh Kiswani: Aqsa Mosque needs new water piping system

Saturday 30-July-2022

Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani director of the Aqsa Mosque has called for necessarily providing the Aqsa Mosque compound with equipment and means to renew its broken water network.

Sheikh Kiswani told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that Aqsa guards and workers from the Islamic Awqaf Administration on Friday marked off an area near the Dome of the Rock with construction tape before embarking on fixing the damaged pipe.

According to him maintenance workers worked for three days on finding sources of water leaks after a large consumption of water were reported inside the Mosque compound.

He stressed the need for having the entire water piping system of the Aqsa Mosque replaced and repaired.

In recent months Palestinian officials at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem have voiced deep concerns over Israeli excavations happening beneath the Islamic holy site affirming that several structural cracks and damage happened lately in different locations of the Mosque.

They warned that the Mosque could sustain serious collapses and cave-ins if the underground diggings continued at their current intensity.
