Sheikh Sabri calls on Al-Aqsa worshippers to protect holy site

Sunday 5-June-2022

Sheikh Ekrima Sabri the preacher of the Al-Aqsa Mosque called on the Al-Aqsa worshippers to protect the holy site amid the repeated Jewish settlers’ raids on the Islamic holy site.

“The Israeli repeated violations of the holy site and its persistent plans to Judaize Jerusalem must be confronted and should not go unpunished” Sheikh Sabri said in a press statement on Sunday.

He confirmed that the international inaction while Jewish settlers repeatedly raid the Al-Aqsa Mosque encourages them to further desecrate the holy site and perform Talmudic rituals in its courtyards.

Earlier on Sunday the Israeli police arrested a Palestinian young man and banished another from Al-Aqsa Mosque after Palestinian youths tried to confront the settlers’ raid on the holy site.

Israeli police had closed the doors of the Al-Qibli mosque in the Al-Aqsa Mosque with iron chains firing rubber-coated bullets at worshippers and imposing restrictions on their movement to facilitate the entry of Jewish settlers into the holy Islamic site.

Extremist Jewish groups had called for massive raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday and Monday to celebrate Shavuot.
