Sheikh Ekrima Sabri preacher of the Aqsa Mosque has warned that if the Israeli occupation authority opened the Mosque’s al-Maghariba Gate to Jewish settlers the other gates would also be opened to dozens of thousands of Muslim worshipers.
Sheikh Sabri made the remarks after settlers called for taking advantage of the coronavirus lockdown and desecrating the Aqsa Mosque through al-Maghariba Gate.
However Sheikh Sabri reassured the citizens that the Aqsa Mosque’s gates would remain closed and that the call to prayer and the performance of prayers by the employees in charge of the holy site would not stop during the coronavirus crisis.
“We appreciate people’s love for Aqsa and we know that the closure decision is painful to everyone but the health situation as a result of the coronavirus pandemic is the reason that has prompted us to do so” the Palestinian cleric said.
