Sheikh Salah visits al-Aqsa Mosque

Monday 7-February-2022

Palestinian icon Sheikh Raed Salah visited Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem on Sunday evening after being banned from having access into the holy site for 15 years.

Sheikh Raed Salah was stopped by the Israeli police forces at a gate for a while before being allowed to enter the Mosque.

Sheikh Salah was later welcomed by dozens of Palestinian worshipers upon entering Al-Aqsa ahead of Maghrib prayers.

On February 7 2007 Israeli authorities banned Sheikh Raed Salah’s entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque for protesting Israeli excavations at the Mughrabi Gate.

During his visit into the holy shrine Sheikh Salah said that the Israeli ban never broke his spiritual link to al-Aqsa.

Sheikh Salah was released from Israeli jails last December where he spent 17 months in solitary confinement.

In a separate development the Jerusalemite activist Khadija Khweis was summoned for investigation in an Israeli police station on Monday morning.

Khweis was recently banned from entering al-Aqsa for six months.

Khweis was subjected to systematic restrictions and arrests along the past years due to her defense of the Aqsa Mosque.
