Situation in Gaza more alarming than ever warns MP

Monday 23-July-2018

Head of the Popular Anti-Siege Committee MP Jamal Khudari said Gaza is on the verge of collapse due to Israel’s closure of Karem Abu Salem crossing and the confiscation of 2500 trucks laden with goods for the tenth consecutive day.

Khudari said over the past ten days during which Israel has kept Karem Abu Salem commercial crossing shut down Gaza started to run out of much-needed items most notably fuel.

He added that the Israeli occupation authorities have banned the entry of 1000 vital items to Gaza.

The Palestinian MP called for an urgent international action so as to lift the siege unblock border crossings and open a commercial passageway so to allow the entry of life-saving items into the enclave.

He said Israel’s blockade and closure of crossing points with Gaza are illegal and contravene the international humanitarian law.

Khudari urged the international community to step up pressure on Israel so as to backtrack on its penal measures and lift the noose around Gazans’ neck.
