The Tunisian government on Sunday vowed to keep tabs on a probe recently launched into the assassination of the Tunisian pro-Qassam scientist Mohamed al-Zouari.
A statement by the Prime Minister stressed Tunisia’s commitment to protect its citizens and pledged to chase down the culprits overseas and nationwide involved in al-Zouari’s assassination using all legal means available.
Mohamed Zouari 49 was gunned down on Thursday outside his home on Menzel Chaker Road to Sfax-South while he was in his car.
According to a statement released by the Tunisian Interior Ministry Saturday a suspected woman arrived Friday night at Tunis-Carthage airport from a European country. Security forces persuaded her to come to Tunisia for the purpose of investigation.
Five people suspected of complicity in the murder of Mohamed Zouari were arrested in Djerba Tunis and Sfax.
Four cars used during the crime two pistols two silenced pistols and cell phones were seized by the police.
The Qassam Brigades the armed wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas on Saturday said the Israeli occupation regime was undoubtedly behind the assassination in Tunisia of engineer Mohamed Zouari.
In a statement posted on its website the Qassam Brigades said Mohamed Zouari whom the armed wing described as one of its commanders was fully engaged in its “Ababil” drone program.
