Ali Erbaş the president of the Directorate of Religious Affairs in Turkey (Diyanet) denounced the Israeli aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque which he said would negatively affect the culture of coexistence in the region.
Erbaş was addressing a virtual press conference on Thursday with the participation of scholars from the International Union of Muslim Scholars the Palestine Scholars Association in addition to other Islamic institutions.
Erbaş stressed that Turkey the government and people always stands by the Palestinians who guard the Al-Aqsa Mosque and will continue to provide all kinds of support.
“The Israelis are working to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque spatially and are seeking to obliterate the Mosque’s landmarks” the Diyanet president underlined.
He continued “We condemn the treacherous attacks and plans against Al-Aqsa Mosque that ignore human rights morals and international law. The Israeli occupation will not achieve its goals and it will be defeated.”
Erbaş finally called on all Muslims “Not to allow anyone to disrupt their unity and weaken their strength.”
