Turkey to provide $1.2 million to Palestinians in Gaza

Tuesday 22-May-2018

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdag announced on Tuesday that Ankara had launched a $1.2-million humanitarian aid campaign for Palestinians titled “Be the hope for Palestine” amid the deadly clashes at the Gaza border.

Akdağ said during receiving the Palestinian Authority ambassador to Ankara Faed Mustafa that Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the World Health Organization would cooperate on a project to send medical aid to Gaza.

“As AFAD we will provide $1.2 million worth of medication medical consumables and medical equipment and the World Health Organization will ship it to Gaza” Akdağ added.

This came after Israel and Egypt refused to allow Turkish planes to land in their airports for moving the wounded from Gaza to Turkey for treatment.
