Two Jenin detainees held in solitary confinement denied visits

Wednesday 31-October-2018

The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) on Wednesday said that the Israel Prison Service has detained the Jenin residents Haitham Yousef and Izz el-Din Ridwan in solitary confinement and denied them family visits.

The PPS said in a statement that Yousef was taken to the court on 18 October and when he returned a prison guard asked him to take off all of his clothes to search him but he refused.

The Israel Prison Service then transferred him to solitary confinement at Gilboa jail and decided to ban him from seeing his family for three months.

Yousef told his lawyer that this is the second sanction imposed on him in 2018. He had been deprived of family visits for two months after he lodged a complaint against Israeli prison guards who beat him several months ago at Salem military court.

Meanwhile the Israel Prison Service of Megiddo jail has isolated 16-year-old Izz el-Din Ridwan denied him family visits and imposed a 500-NIS fine on him after an Israeli prison guard claimed that he poured hot water on him.

Ridwan was arrested on 6 August 2018 and sentenced to 20 months in prison.
