The National Committee for Jordanian Prisoners and Missing Persons in Israeli prisons reported on Saturday that two Jordanian prisoners had been infected with the coronavirus.
The committee pointed out that no comment or follow-up was issued by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry to know the conditions of the two infected prisoners Abdullah Al-Barghouti and Thaer Al-Lawzi or the practical measures that could be taken in this regard.
The committee called on the ministry to put pressure on Israel to provide anti-virus vaccinations to the prisoners and to provide an appropriate environment for treating the infections.
Abdel Nasser Farwana a specialist in prisoners’ affairs said that the Israeli occupation authority is holding 21 Jordanian prisoners in its prisons.
Farwana told Quds press that 8 Jordanian prisoners are serving life sentences and 5 are serving sentences ranging from 20 to 36 years while 6 prisoners are serving sentences ranging from 5 to 18 years and two are standing trials.
In another context the Israeli prison service transferred the prisoner Abdel-Moez Al-Jahba from al-Khalil to Soroka Hospital after his health deteriorated due to high fever and breathing difficulty.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed in a statement on Saturday that Jahba suffers from blood pressure and diabetes and had a stroke five years ago.
Jahba 59 spent 16 years in detention and is serving a life sentence.
