Friday 22-April-2022

Two Palestinian prisoners have been on hunger strike for weeks in protest at their administration detention in Israeli jails without trial or charge.

Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawda 40 continues his hunger strike for the 50th day Friday while Raed Rayan 27 enters his 16th day.

Awawda was transferred from the solitary confinement cells in Ofer to the Ramla infirmary after his health deteriorated. He is suffering from irregular heartbeat breathing difficulty persistent vomiting and a sharp decrease in weight as he lost more than 16 kg of his weight.

The Israeli occupation authorities refuse to respond to his request to end his administrative detention despite the noticeable deterioration in his health condition.

Awawda is a father of four girls and was arrested on December 27 2021 and held in administrative detention without any accusation being brought against him.

As for Rayan the Israeli occupation forces arrested him on 3/11/2021 after raiding his house and interrogating its residents then ordered his administrative detention for 6 months. However at the end of the detention period they renewed it for an additional 4 months after which he announced his open hunger strike.
