Two Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Ofer prison

Monday 5-December-2022

Palestinian prisoners Ahmad Musa and Addal Mousa on Monday resumed their open-ended hunger strike in protest at extending their detention order despite promises not to extend it.

Prisoners Ahmad and Addal who are held in Ofer prison have been on hunger strike since the 7th of August 2022.

Ahmad 44 started his first hunger strike in 2019 which continued for 31 days. He suffered from a stroke that affected his foot and hand and he had underwent open heart surgery.

In a related development the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said that the Israeli prison service is deliberately practicing the policy of medical negligence against the cancer-stricken Palestinian prisoner Asif al-Refai.

In a press statement on Monday the PPS stressed that the health condition of 20-year-old Rifai is deteriorating as he suffers cancerous tumor in the colon and glands adding that he needs special medical care.

Prisoner Rifai’s detention has been recently extended until the second of January 2023. He was arrested when he was a child and he was detained four times.
