Two Palestinian prisoners suffer deteriorating health conditions

Monday 4-July-2022

Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said on Monday that the two Palestinian prisoners Ahmad Salah and Fayez Baara suffer from severe health conditions in the Israeli Ramon prison due to the deliberate medical negligence policy practiced against them.

According to a report issued by the Commission lawyer Shireen Nasir underlined that prisoner Salah 45 from Bethlehem suffers from inflammation of the right colon.

“In March 2022 Salah’s doctor said he needs to be transferred to a civil hospital. However the prison administration deliberately neglected his serious health condition” lawyer Nasir said noting that he was shot by the Israeli occupation forces in the intestines and right foot in 2002.

Nasir added that 51-year-old Baara from Nablus who is diagnosed with cancer in the lymph nodes needs to undergo a serious operation that has a success rate of 35% to remove the remaining tumor close to the nerves.

The Commission held the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for the repercussions of continuing the policy of medical negligence calling on international institutions human rights institutions and the International Red Cross to assume their roles in supporting the Palestinian prisoners especially the sick and wounded.
