Different West Bank areas last night saw spontaneous solidarity marches and violent clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) especially after news reports talked about the recapturing of some prisoners who escaped from Gilboa jail last Monday.
In Jenin resistance fighters opened fire at the Jalamah military checkpoint in the north of the city. Four shooting operations were carried out in the past few days against the IOF at the same checkpoint.
A massive march was also organized in Arraba town south of Jenin in solidarity with the families of prisoners Mahmoud al-Arida and Yaqoub Qadri following news talked about their re-arrest.
In al-Khalil the Palestinian resistance carried out a similar shooting operation against the IOF in the vicinity of the Halhul Bridge north of the province.
Clashes also broke out with the occupation at the main entrance to al-Fawwar refugee camp in southern al-Khalil.
One young man was reportedly injured by IOF gunfire after he allegedly threw a homemade fire bomb at soldiers in the southwest of al-Khalil.
Meanwhile fierce clashes broke out between local youths and the IOF near the Geshuri factories in western Tulkarem and near the northern entrance to Qalqilya City.
In Ramallah dozens of young protesters marched towards the military checkpoint of Beit El and clashed with the IOF near the northern entrance to al-Bireh City.
In Bethlehem citizens organized an angry march in al-Deheisha refugee camp during which they chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian prisoners.
In east Jerusalem local youths in Issawiya district clashed with police forces in solidarity with the six Gilboa escapees and showered them with homemade fire bombs and firecrackers.
In a related context social media activists and major Palestinian factions in the West Bank called for a comprehensive general strike across Palestine in solidarity with the four Gilboa prisoners who were recaptured by Israeli forces last night and at dawn Saturday.
