The Prisoners’ press office warned on Sunday morning of the deteriorating health conditions of the Palestinian prisoners infected with coronavirus in Section 8 of the Israeli Ramon prison.
The office confirmed that the conditions of prisoners in this Section 8 are extremely difficult as they do not receive appropriate medical treatment.
The Israeli prison service (IPS) prevents the provision of vitamins and medical supplies necessary for infected prisoners.
The office stated that a member of the High Command Authority for Hamas’s Prisoners Muammar Al-Shahroury was taken from Tulkarem to Section 8 of Ramon prison after he was infected with the coronavirus.
The office appealed to human rights and international institutions to urgently intervene to ensure that the IPS provides the infected prisoners with the necessary medication.
The infected prisoners are isolated in tragic conditions in isolation departments that lack the minimum health services it added.
The number of prisoners in Ramon is more than 650 prisoners.
The IPS neglects the prisoners’ conditions and deprives them of protection methods such as sterilizers cleaning materials and masks which compel prisoners to buy these supplies at their own expense.
Israel is holding about 4200 Palestinians in its prisons including 700 patients of whom 40 suffer from chronic diseases and ten of them have cancer to varying degrees according to official statistics.
