Head of Hamas’s parliamentary bloc Mahmoud al-Zahhar said on Monday that the Israeli occupation is Hamas’s only enemy adding that the large campaign waged against Hamas and accusing it of terrorism will not weaken the Movement but will make it stronger.
During his meeting with the South Africa ambassador to the Palestinian Authority Ashraf Sulaiman Zahhar affirmed that Hamas will stick to the resistance against the Israeli occupation.
Zahhar emphasized that Hamas will not give up “one inch of the historical land of Palestine” and will not recognize Israel.
He praised South Africa’s efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause noting that South Africa had gone through the same suffering Palestine is currently experiencing.
For his part ambassador Sulaiman said that South Africa will continue its efforts in the Palestinian reconciliation file pointing to a meeting recently held in Cape Town city in the presence of Hamas Fatah and other factions. He pointed out that other meetings will be held in the West Bank and Gaza on the issue.
At the end of the meeting Zahhar called for more South African support to the Palestinians and to the besieged Gaza Strip such as launching economic and humanitarian projects in Gaza especially in the health and education sectors and exerting efforts to open Rafah crossing.
