Mustafa Şentop the Turkish Parliament Speaker condemned the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to an illegal Israeli settlement in the Occupied West Bank.
Shantoub said on Twitter “The lame duck leaves the wrong effect.”
“Only lame duck politicians visit an illegal settlement according to international law. It is a provocation visit not a peace visit. I condemn it” he added.
In the United States the term lame duck is used for outgoing politicians while they wait for their rule to end.
On Thursday Pompeo visited the Psagot settlement in the occupied West Bank in the first visit by a US minister to West Bank settlements.
Washington announced on 19/11/2019 that it no longer considers settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories illegal.
